Vigna di Pettineo Frappato from Maggiovini is made from 100% Frappato grapes. A relatively light and fruity red wine with soft tannins to serve lightly chilled for various fish dishes or a few degrees warmer for chicken dishes.

Presentation vineyard

Maggiovini is a family winery created more than 50 years ago in Vittoria, located in the southeastern part of Sicily. Today it's Massimo and Barbara, the 3rd generation Maggio's who manage the vineyard that includes 50 hectares of land, of which 35 hectares of vineyard. The vineyards are cultivated organically, and the vinification methods mix tradition with new production methods and new tools. The soil has a typical, red and sandy character with a calcareous ground that guarantees the much needed amount of water for the vines to grow and feel good. Cerasuolo di Vittoria, the island's only DOCG wine, is the most exclusive wine, but other typically Sicilian and genuine wines are also produced such as Nero d'Avola, Frappato, Grillo, Catarratto and Insolia.

Sommelier's advice

A cherry color with violet hues. The nose has hints of forest berries. Fresh tannins that combine well with wonderful acidity make this wine relatively light and very pleasant and can be served chilled with fish as well as a few degrees warmer for a chicken dish.

Vigna di Pettineo from Maggiovini is made from 100% organically grown Frappato grapes from the vineyards around the town of Vittoria. The grapes are harvested and thinned by hand. Only the best grapes are selected, which are then let to macerate for 7 days with the skin and fermented at a controlled temperature. The wine is stored for 1 month in a steel tank and then for 3 months in a bottle.
