Marchesi Alfieri – San Germano – Red

A Pinot nero with hints of violets and blueberries. The palate is structured with well-present soft tannins, nice length.

Marchesi Alfieri – Marchesi Alfieri – San Germano – Red wine made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. The grape variety was introduced by Cavour in the mid-19th century on the advice of the French oenologist Oudart. The grapes are harvested manually and placed in boxes at the end of August. The bunches are selected and sorted on sorting and de-stemming tables. The fermentation is done according to the traditional method for 10-12 days at a controlled temperature (max. 28 °C) in low and wide tanks for a better contact between the skins and the must. The must is pumped into an empty steel tank (delestage) daily during the first week of fermentation. The wine is then bottled in 500L French oak barrels where it is aged. A wine that is only produced in favorable years in around 4,000 bottles. The wine is then bottled in 500L French oak barrels where it is aged.
