Presentation vineyard

Château du Rouët is located in Provence, between the coastal town of Fréjus and Draguignan, some 20 km inland. The vineyard has been in the same estate for 5 generations. The castle has a long history. But it was only in 1927, after a major wildfire, which due to the Mistral wind, knocked out a major part of the castle's forest lands, that it was decided to start growing wine between the wooded areas of the land. The vines were planted in order to separate the woodland and protect the forest from potential new fires. Today it's the 2 brothers Martin & Matthieu Savatier who since the 90's have taken over the responsibility for the winemaking. A wide range of wines are produced here - red-, white-, sparkling- and of course the wellknown rosé of Provence.

Sommelier's advice

A deep red color. The aroma has hints of red berries with sweet hints of candied fruit. The taste is fruity and spicy with concentration and substance that gives length. Very nice aromatic persistence. To serve with meat stews, grilled meat, game and poultry and with Provençal cuisine. .

Château du Rouët – Belle Poule – Red wine is made from 90% Syrah and 10% Grenache. The harvest is done manually and the grapes are allowed to ferment for 8-10 days. The wine is then aged for 1 year in oak barrels. 35 hl/hectare is extracted and 35,000 bottles are produced/year.
