Camille Cayran - La Réserve - Cairanne - Red

La Reserve from Camille Cayran is made from 45% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Vieux Carignan and 15% Mourvèdre. The grapes are picked by hand and then cleared from the bunches directly on the field. The wine is produced to 90% according to the traditional method with grapes separated from their bunches. 10% is produced after carbonic maceration in order to extract the most possible quantity of fruit aromas. The fermentation then takes place for 15-25 days with a stirring per day (remontage). The final wine is put together at the end of the winter and is then stored in concrete tanks for 8 months before being bottled.

Presentation of the vineyard

Camille Cayran is a wine cooperative in Cairanne representing 80 small winegrowers since more than 80 years. The wines produced, include several of the major appellations in southern Côtes-du-Rhône, such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Cairanne. Tradition is an important concept and the goal is as most as possible to respect the fundamental values, which means as a wine grower to act like a "gardener of his treasure" Most of the production is organic.

Sommelier's advice

A deep red color with violet shades. A powerful nose of berriest with hints of mainly cherries and blackberries, combined with spicy notes of pepper, cinnamon and licorice. The taste is full-bodied, well-structured with great concentration. Also the palate has mainly hints of red berries and spices. An elegant and powerful wine to serve with the barbecue, red meat or a pizza.
