Château Villars - Fronsac - Red
Château Villars is produced mainly from Merlot, some 15% Cabernet franc and the rest Cabernet sauvignon. The wine is vinified according to the classic method and then stored on oak barrels for 14 months. The harvest is done by hand. The vinification is done according to the traditional method for 27 days with pumping (remontation) twice a day at 28 ° C fermentation temperature. The storage takes place on oak barrels for 13 months, with 35% new barrels.

Presentation of the vineyard
Château Villards is a reference in the Fronsac appellation and the vineyard is owned by the Gaudrie family since 7 generations, or more than 200 years back. Today it is Thierry who is responsible and who, after having been an oenologist consultant until 1991, came back to the family property and has been responsible wine maker since 1998. The winery is run over 30 hectares of land.
A dark red color. The nose is complex with hints of red and black berries, but also of undergrowth, smoke and moka. The palate is round, soft and strong with a long final. The tannins are present but with good structure. The fruitiness is explosive in a mixture of full-bodyness from the oak barrels that gives some toasted elements.
