The history of Besserat de Bellefon dates back to 1843 when the winery was created by Edmond Besserat in Aÿ, but it was not until 1920 when another Edmond married Yvonne de Méric de Bellefon that the champagne's current name, Besserat de Bellefon was created. Besserat de Bellefon is best known for producing an innovative, slightly sparkling and creamy champagne for the Parisian and exclusive restaurant "Samaritaine de Luxe" in the 1930s. La "Cuvée des moines" became a reference that over the years was served at the big Cabarets such as Moulin-rouge and Crazy Hourse. In 1978, the house was chosen by Air France to be served on all flights, including the Concorde, and in 1994, Paris chose Besserat de Bellefon for the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Day from German occupation in 1944.

Sommelier's advice

A light pink color with salmon-colored hues. The bubbles are small and form a slightly creamy foam. The nose is intense, generous and refined. Noticeable hints of red berries, mainly strawberries. Also notes of currant jelly and almonds, as well as of linden and hawthorn. The palate has a full-bodied taste with an acidulous attack. The berry aromas are present again - mainly blackberries and black currants. The finale is juicy and lightly spiced. A delicious rosé champagne to serve as an aperitif, with grilled shrimp skewers or with a fruit salad at the end of the meal

Besserat de Bellefon Rosé Brut is made from 30% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir and % Pinot Meunier .
