Forchir - Refoscone 2010
""Refoscone" is the original name for the Refosco grapes which is originating from the Friuli region. The Refosco grape has existed since the Roman times and it's maybe the red Italian grape variety that has competed the best with the progress of French red grape varieties during the 1800s. "Refoscone" from Forchir is manufactured by a proper method; when the grapes are ripe and are cut, they are left to dry for one week in the autumn sun. After the fermentation process, the wine is transferred into oak barrels for storage for 12 months. The wine is then bottled and stored for another 12 months before going for sale. The finnished wine is not clarified, nor filtered in order to preserve the natural flavors in the wine.

Presentation of the vineyard
Forchir is a winery located in the northeast of Italy, more precisely in the "Friuli" region which is the last outpost of Italy before the border with Slovenia. The winery dates back more than 100 years, but the current owners Gianfranco Bianchini and Enzo Deana took over the operations in 1984. However, without changing the winery's historic name which has been given from the Forchir family. This is part of the winery philosophy and it also applies to the wine making - things are not changed for the sake of changing. The idea is to let the natural grapes together with the soil, "terroir" and the specific climate, create wines with no major external influences. The goal is to produce wines with personality, with a typical local and regional character.
A deep dark red color. Fruity and charming aromas with vegetable and spicy elements. Soft tannins and a flavor of red berries. A true "foodwine" that fits well with grilled meats, creamy sauces, the cheese board or other dishes that require a little response.
