Maggiovini - Kalaurisi - Nero d'avola - Red
Kalaurisi comes from "Kalau l'avulisi" which literally means "the grape Nero d'Avola has arrived". Kalaurasi from Maggiovini is made from 100% Nero d'avola and undergoes a long maceration with the skins in a process that enhances the all the qualities of the Nero d'avola as a grape variety. The wine is stored on steel tanks before being bottled.

Presentation of the vineyard
Maggiovini is a family winery created more than 50 years ago in Vittoria, located in the southeastern part of Sicily. Today it's Massimo and Barbara, the 3rd generation Maggio's who manage the vineyard that includes 50 hectares of land, of which 35 hectares of vineyard. The vineyards are cultivated organically, and the vinification methods mix tradition with new production methods and new tools. The soil has a typical, red and sandy character with a calcareous ground that guarantees the much needed amount of water for the vines to grow and feel good. Cerasuolo di Vittoria, the island's only DOCG wine, is the most exclusive wine, but other typically Sicilian and genuine wines are also produced such as Nero d'Avola, Frappato, Grillo, Catarratto and Insolia.
A dark cherry red color with ruby red hues. The nose is fruity with hints of red berries (cherry). The palate is rich and concentrated, but with balancing light feeling which makes the wine very useful to most meals. Full-bodiness and concentration to red meat or, a few degrees colder, a lighter fruitier impression to pair with chicken or a cod filé.
