Maggiovini - Cerasuolo - Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico DOCG - Red
Cerasuolo comes from the word "Cerasa" which literally means "cherry" in local Sicilian dialect and which is also the organoleptic description of this DOCG wine (DOCG Cerasuolo di Vittoria). On top of this, Cerasa is a real "Classico" since the wine is produced in the municipality of Vittoria itself. The wine is made from 50% Nero d'avola and 50% Frappato and undergoes a long maceration (7-10 days) with the skins. The fermentation takes place at controlled temperature. The wine is stored on steel tanks for one year before being bottled and is then stored another 6 months.

Presentation of the vineyard
Maggiovini is a family winery created more than 50 years ago in Vittoria, located in the southeastern part of Sicily. Today it's Massimo and Barbara, the 3rd generation Maggio's who manage the vineyard that includes 50 hectares of land, of which 35 hectares of vineyard. The vineyards are cultivated organically, and the vinification methods mix tradition with new production methods and new tools. The soil has a typical, red and sandy character with a calcareous ground that guarantees the much needed amount of water for the vines to grow and feel good. Cerasuolo di Vittoria, the island's only DOCG wine, is the most exclusive wine, but other typically Sicilian and genuine wines are also produced such as Nero d'Avola, Frappato, Grillo, Catarratto and Insolia.
A dark cherry red color. An intense nose with hints of red berries, licorice, mint as well as floral tones. The palate is light, no tannins, well balanced with long aftertaste. A red wine to serve to the cheese tray, to grilled meat or to various stews.
