Cusumano - Nero d'avola - Red
Nero d'Avola from Cusumano is made from 100% Nero d'avola grapes harvested in early September. The grapes are picked by hand, separated from the bunches and immediately let to coolmacerate for 2 days at 5 ° C. The fermentation takes place at 26-28 ° C with regular re-circulation. The malolactic fermentation is then conducted in stainless steel tanks and the finalized wine is aged for at least five months of the lees. The wine is then bottled and stored again for some time.

Presentation of the vineyard
The two brothers Alberto and Diego Cusumano took over the family estate from their father in 2001. Along with the enologist Mario Ronco, they began to cultivate wine with innovation and modernization but without for that sake forget the Sicilian history and wine tradition. The project has been very successful and has managed to charm a whole world of wine buffs with the Sicilian wine tradition. Today, Cusumano represents not less than 400 hectares of vineyards all over Sicily. 2 types of wines are produced; one single varietal range; Merlot, Nero d'Avola, Syrah ... and one more traditional and territorial range.
A deep ruby red color with violet hues. The aroma is fruity and fresh, but also with hints of spices and coffee. The palate is medium-bodied with good balance between acidity and fruit. Elements of ripe plum and cherry compote and present tannins. A red wine which goes well together with a broad type of food - from red and white meat to simpler meals like a pizza or various pasta dishes.
