Vinosia Orus Primitivo Salento IGT 2016 - Red

Primitivodruvan has existed in Puglia for more than 2,000 years and was probably imported  by Illyrians who originated from the Western Balkans, former Yugoslavia and Albania. Later research has also demonstrated the genetic similarity between the Primitivo and the Zinfandel grape, mainly known in wines from the New World. The Primitivo grape variety has been named from the gfact that it ripens faster than many other grape varieties. Vinosia's Primitivo grown on chalky clay soil, the grapes are hand-picked in mid-September.

Presentation of the vineyard

The vineyard "Vinosia" is a relatively young project which started by the two brothers Mario and Luciano Ercolino. However, the two brothers Ercolino are not novice in what concerns wine making, since they are from the same family that started the well-known vineyard Feudi di San Gregorio in the Campania wine region. Mario was actually at that time responsible for the winemaking. In 2003, they starded the project "Vinosia" which means "A new source for wine." The vineyard is located in Luogosano, in the middle of Italy, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Adriatic coast at the same level as Napoli. Mario is responsible for the winemaking with the same commitment as within Feudi and produces southern Italian quality wines with a lot of personality.

Sommelier's advice

Intense deep red color with violet plum tints. Intriguing aromas of blackberries in a mixture of underground and a certain hint of licorice. Concentrated and velvety taste, hints of fruit with finesse. Very harmonious wine with a nice finish. To be served slightly chilled (16-18 °) with grilled meat or chicken.
