Vinosia Orus Negroamaro Salento IGT 2016 - Red

The name of the so typical Puglia grapevariety "Negroamaro" comes from the local dialect "Niuru-maro", meaning "Black & Purple" and refers to the wine's dark red, close to black color and the characteristic sharpness in the flavor. The grape Negroamaro was likely introduced to Italy by the Greeks more than 1500 years ago. Vinosia's Orus Negroamaro is made from 100% Negroamaro grapes grown in chalky clay soil and the harvesting takes place in mid-September.

Presentation of the vineyard

The vineyard "Vinosia" is a relatively young project which started by the two brothers Mario and Luciano Ercolino. However, the two brothers Ercolino are not novice in what concerns wine making, since they are from the same family that started the well-known vineyard Feudi di San Gregorio in the Campania wine region. Mario was actually at that time responsible for the winemaking. In 2003, they starded the project "Vinosia" which means "A new source for wine." The vineyard is located in Luogosano, in the middle of Italy, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Adriatic coast at the same level as Napoli. Mario is responsible for the winemaking with the same commitment as within Feudi and produces southern Italian quality wines with a lot of personality.

Sommelier's advice

Intense ruby red color. Fruity flavors of black and red berries - blackcurrant and fresh hints of mint. A warm, deep and full-bodied taste with dominance of raspberries. To serve lightly chilled (16-18 °) to various meats and pasta dishes.
