Prunotto - Barbaresco - Bric Turot - Red

Barbaresco "Bric Turot" from Prunotto is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. The great diversity of the vineyard's exposure, thanks to the "Bricco's" (hill in Piedmontese dialect) formation and the specific clone selection, combined with the storage in large barrels of different volumes, contribute to create a balanced and pleasant Barbaresco. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are easily crushed. Fermentation takes about 10 days at a maximum temperature of 30 ° C. Malolactic fermentation ends before the end of winter. The wine is stored for at least 12 months in oak barrels of various capacities. Thereafter, Bric Turot is stored further in the bottle before sale.

Presentation of the vineyard

In 1904, Prunotto started as a joint union between several wine farmers. The times became more difficult in the 20th and the company went bankrupt in 1922. Alfredo Prunotto saw an opportunity to buy the company and started, among other things, exports of Barolo and Barbaresco wines to the United States. In 1956, Alfredo Prunotto resigns and sells the company to his friend Beppe Colla, who begins to structure the vineyard into different Cru areas. In 1989, the Antinori family took over the distribution of the Pronotto wines and later, in 1994, they bought the entire winery when the brothers Colla retired. Prunotto is located just outside Alba, in the middle of the Langhe region on the right side of the Tanaro River.

Sommelier's advice

Bric Turot has an intense garnet red color with dark ruby red hues. The nose is complex, with notes of licorice in harmony with aromas of small forest berries, cinnamon, cloves and violets. The palate is concentrated with full and enveloping tannins. Long aftertaste of ripe fruit. A nice Barbaresco to serve with a pork roast with rosemary.
