La Polenza - Cinque Terre 2017 - White
Cinque Terre is a part of the Eastern Ligurian coast representing five medieval villages; Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore All 5 villages are rather inaccessible except from when taking the coastal train. Wine has been grown here for more than 1000 years, but they almost inhumanly difficult conditions on the steap hills, that makes it impossible to work with any kind of machine, has made that a part of the vineyards has fallen fallow. Today, there are enthusiasts who have resumed the wine cultivation and who today primarily offer white wines from the appellation DOC Cinque Terre and also the more upscale dessert wines Sciacchetrà.

Presentation of the vineyard
Stefania and Lorenzo "Gerry" Caste had a dream about taking on the since long uncultivated soil, which in terrace formations extends high above the sea in the Cinque Terre area. Maria Rita Rezzano is the owner of the land and with the already 8 hectares of vineyards, the ambition is now to gradually restore the historic vineyards of Cinque Terre to eventually reach an area of 30 hectares.
An intense golden color. A fragrance with great elegance - in the same time precise and well defined. A scent of ripe yellow fruits, honey and caramel combined with a certain minerality. A full-bodied taste with "marine" elements that come together in a long final. A wine to drink as an aperitif, with fish and seafood antipasti or to a piece of grilled fish.
