Chateau Thuerry - L'Exception Rosé
"L'Exception" is produced from Merlot, and Caladoc grapes. The harvest is done by hand and the grapes are then sorted out. The grapes are let to macerate with the skin for 20 h ("Saignée" method) before removing the skins from the juice. The wine is fermented and then stored 7 months in French and American oak barrels. The lees are stirred (batonage) regularly.

Presentation of the vineyard
Thuerry Chateau is located in the inner parts of the Var department in the village of Villecroze. The vineyard represent 300 hectars of land in the middle of the Provençal forest. Jean-Louis Croquet, former head of the market study and opinion firm Sofres, bought the vineyard 1997. The vineyard is regularly visited by Francis Ford Coppola who besides the filmmaking is also wine grower in California. Everything is explainable; Jean-Louis' son, Thomas Mars is namely married to Sofia Coppola, Francis Ford's daughter.
A beautiful orange pink color with copper-colored hues. A lovely buttery aroma with a mixture of fruit and vanilla. Hints of oak, but without exaggeration. The taste is full, round with good freshness. A slight fruity sweetness that is perfectly balanced for keeping the wine on the dry side. A long finale. To serve with fish dishes, but even as an alternative to red wine. Can be stored 2-5 years.
