Château Thuerry "Les Abeillons" - White

The white "Les Abeillons" from Château Thuerry is made from Rolle and Sémillon grapes harvested and than thinned by hand. The grapes are let to coolmacerate  for 10-20 hours before the fermentation starts. This is done in order to extract the grape aromas as much as possible. After the fermentation, the wine is stored on its lees for 5 months before being bottled.

Presentation of the vineyard

Thuerry Chateau is located in the inner parts of the Var department in the village of Villecroze. The vineyard represent 300 hectars of land in the middle of the Provençal forest. Jean-Louis Croquet, former head of the market study and opinion firm Sofres, bought the vineyard 1997. The vineyard is regularly visited by Francis Ford Coppola who besides the filmmaking is also wine grower in California. Everything is explainable; Jean-Louis' son, Thomas Mars is namely married to Sofia Coppola, Francis Ford's daughter.

Sommelier's advice

A clear, light straw yellow color with brilliant hues. The nose reminds of citrus and white flowers with good freshness. A complex concentrated palate with good structure and some minerality. An elegant white wine to serve with a boiled cod, to various chicken dishes or to cooked seafood.
