Xavier & Thierry Amirault - St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueuil - "Les Quarterons" 2014 - Red

"Les Quarterons" is an organic red wine made from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes from vines growing in a region of typical sandy soil. The grapes are picked by hand and then macerated for 2-3 weeks after the harvest. The finished wine is aged after the fermentation in steel tanks to thereby retain its fruity and natural character.

Presentation of the vineyard

Xavier & Thierry Amirault is based in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil in the  Loire wine district. The property was built in 1800, but at that time to represent the village town hall and school. It was only 100 years later that the great grandfather Octave Amirault started the winery that has been part of the Amirault family ever since. The wines are organically grown and the winery's philosophy is to respect the environment and let nature laws govern the vineyard.

Sommelier's advice

A soft fruity flavor with spicy notes. A certain length, lovely juicy elements culminating in a finale with light tannins. A "thirstquencher wine" to drink as an aperitif, to the light summer meals, to a barbecue or as a red alternative to fish.
