Fontaine du Clos - Aura - Red
"Aura" is produced out of Marselan-, Caladoc-, Merlot- and Syrah Grapes. The Syrah is harvested in mid-September and then vinified in steel tanks to retain the fruitiness. The Caladoc and the Merlot are harvested only in late September and the Marselan, with its small berries, is harvested only in the beginning of October. The finalized wine is aged in oak barrels to soften the tannins.

Presentation of the vineyard
Fontaine du Clos is located in Sarrians, just a bit north of Avignon. Jean-François Barnier, who along with his wife Cécile created the vineyard, is both gardener and winegrower, which has its advantages when working with live vines. Not less than 52 different grape varieties are grown here to primarily produce Vacqueras. However, Côtes-du-Rhône wines are also produced as well as a whole range of very good IGP wines.
Deep purple color. A very aromatic wine with hints of both black currants, red berries and roast. The palate is round and rather powerful. Good structure thanks to present tannins which have started to soften. A very aromatic redwine to serve to a grilled piece of meat the next coming 5 years.
