Cave Saint-Désirat - Condrieu Tradition 2013 - white

Condrieu wines are produced from Viogniergrapes grown on steep hills in the northern part of the Rhone Valley. The soil is held back by roundpole fences and farming and harvesting is done by hand in this difficult terrain where no machines can be used. The wine is grown in south/southeastern direction in a granite soil. The grapes are let to reach considerable maturity to obtain a high sugar content.

Presentation of the vineyard

Caves Saint-Désirat is a good example that also wine from cooperatives can be really good. St-Joseph and Condrieu wines are mainly produced here , but also wines from the Côtes-du-Rhône and Ardèche appellations can be found in the wine portfolio. Caves Saint-Désirat was created in 1961 and today there are more than 300 wine-producing members. Since the merger with the Caves Sarrat, the cooperative represents 600 hectares of vineyards and about 50% of the total St. Joseph wineproduction. Quality and modernity are the leitmotifs of the winery and that suits us very fine.

Sommelier's advice

Straw yellow and chrystal clear color. A scent of roast, mocha and white mature fruits in compote. The taste reevokes roast and mocha notes with hints of acacia flowers. A flavor with good balance, good length with round body. To be drunk at 12 ° as an aperitif or with chicken or mushroom dishes in a creamy sauce. Why not a tasty pasta with porcini!
