Presentation of the vineyard

Pommery is one of the major champagne houses and was initially created by Narcisse Greno in 1836. 1857, 20 years later, Mr Pommery quit the crising woolindustry to instead join Mr. Greno's champagne production. Mr Pommery died already the following year and it is actually his widow, Louise Pommery, who laid the foundation for the champagne house's future success. After a few turbulent years in the millenaire shift, Pommery is since 2002 the premium champagne brand within the group Vranken Monopole.

Sommelier's advice

Pommery Grand Cru Royal 2006 is a Champagne with a golden yellow color and beautiful green hues. The nose is complex but has a nice minerality as being the red thread. The scent also has tones of citrus fruits, mainly lemon, but there are also aromas of white fruit and southern European spices giving the Champagne its unique personality. The palate is straight, but with length. The minerality of the nose becomes the body of the wine, which also expresses length, finesse and elegance. To pair with truffle-oiled scallops in carpaccio, with sushi or other dishes that consist of shellfish.
