Domaine Pascal Bonhomme - Viré Clessé 2016 - White

Pascal Bonhomme's Viré-Clessé is like the majority of Burgundy white wines made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. The wine has been stored on steel tank which makes it aromatic and fruity. It can be drunk immediately, but has good potential for storage a few years.

Presentation of the vineyard

Pascal Bonhomme belongs to the younger generation of winemakers who successfully produce quality white wines from the south of the Burgundy district, around the town of Mâcon. Together with his wife, Nathalie, Pascal manages the entire manufacturing process which involves the management of the vines, the harvest which is done by hand, the wine making and the sales. "Should something go wrong, we know at least who the culprits are!" says Pascal ironically. The winery is currently run on six hectares of land and 40% of the production is already exported.

Sommelier's advice

Chrystal clear, light yellow in color. A fresh mineral scent, but with undertones of honey and gingerbread ("pain d'épice"). A pleasant feminine and mellow, slightly buttery flavor - aromatic without being "jammy". Good balance between dryness and fruitiness which makes the wine suit a broad range of occasions; to chicken and fish dishes in cream sauces, but also as a lovely aperitif before the meal.
