Presentation of the vineyard

In the eighteenth century, the domaine Rieussec belonged to the monks of the Carmelites in Langon. The property was confiscated during the French Revolution and in 1790 it was sold as a "state property" to Mr Arheilhac who at that time also owned the Chateau La Louvière in Léognan. At the famous wine classification in 1855, Rieussec was listed as a "Premier Cru Classé" of Sauternes and Barsac. In 1984, Château Rieussec was acquired by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) with its 110 hectares, of which 68 hectares of vineyards. Today, Château Rieussec is a reference among the Sauternes wines and the winery was recognized in 2004 with the vintage 2001 as "Wine of the year" by Wine Spectator Magazine.

Sommelier's advice

A beautiful nose dominated by flowers and the vivacity of citrus fruits. Elegance, with toasted wood elements that together provide a very comfortable complexity.
The taste attack is discreet, but grows in the mouth and remains well balanced. The Sauvignon grape expresses itself well, but without dominating the elegance of the semillon. A dry white wine to serve as an aperitif or to pair with a spaghetti all vongole.
