Clos Floridène – Graves – White

Clos Floridène is a white wine from the Bordeaux appellation Graves. The wine is made from 51% Sémillon, 47% Sauvignon and 2% Muscadelle. The grapes are harvested manually with - if necessary - 2 consecutive sortings of the grapes. The grapes are macerated with skin and the extraction of the fruit juice is done without the risk of oxidation. The self-extracted juice (moûts de goutte) is separated from the pressed juice and the clarification is made through natural sedimentation. The fermentation takes place in oak barrels, of which 1/4th is new. The wine is then stored 8 months on its lees which is stirred regularly.

Presentation of the vineyard

Clos Floridène is located in Pujols sur Ciron - in the Graves Appellation. The vineyard was gradually created 1982, when Denis and Florence Dubourdieu successively bought land in the best areas of the appellation. The name Floridène is a mix of the first names Florence and Denis. Denis has a past as a professor of oenology at the University of Bordeaux.

Sommelier's advice

A golden green color. Intense aromas of fruit, mainly white peach, lemon, grapefruit but also with toasted and mineral elements. Powerful and fresh fruit palate. A round and fat character after storage - fine density and structure. A great white wine to pair with grilled scallops or with chicken fillets in a cream sauce.
