Charmes de Kirwan 2014 - Red

Chateau Kirwan's "second wine" Charmes de Kirwan was initially produced in 1993 and has since then received the same care and improvements over the years as the 1st "Cru" -wine. However, "Charmes" is mainly made from grapes from younger vines. Charmes de Kirwan is made of 27% Cabernet sauvignon, 53% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc och 10% Petit Verdot. The harvest is done manually and the grapes are sorted both on the vine and later in the wine cellar. The fermentation takes place in small stainless steel vats and the wine is stored for 16 months in oak barrels. 50,000 bottles are produced every year.

The Chateau Kirwan was aquired back in 1925 and the owner family is still the same today. Chateau Kirwan has an imprressively constant quality over the years and the winery is one of the 14 "3ème Cru Classé" from the 1855-classification.

Sommelier's advice

The color is brilliant ruby ??red. The nose proposes beautiful notes of black and red fruits such as cherry and currant. Fine, woody notes complete the palette of flavors. The palate is fresh, lively but the sensations fast becomes softer with a pleasant full-bodiness. Some creamy notes which bring an extra touch of roundness, the finale has beautiful spicy aromas. A beautiful red wine to serve as from this year.
